How do I take care of my yarn?

I always recommend hand-washing in warm, soapy water. Rinse in cool water and gently squeeze dry. To remove excess water, wrap in a towel, roll up, and press gently. Our superwash merino bases are machine washable (gentle cycle), however that does not mean machine dryable. Lay flat (or block in desired shape) to dry.

Why does my skein look different than the one on my computer?

I do my very best to portray items in the most accurate way possible, but variances in monitors and the very nature of the hand-dyeing process will result in each skein being unique. Our yarns are dyed in small batches of 2-3 skeins. Within a particular batch the skeins will vary due to the art of dyeing and placement of speckles. Even when using the same formula for a color, it will vary each time. This is actually the beautiful nature of hand-dyeing and working with a product that is created in such a personal way. Unless an item listed specifically states that you will receive that particular skein, your skein will be one similar to the one pictured, but again, as is the nature of hand-dyed yarn, please expect variances. For larger projects, if using multiple skeins of a particular colorway, we recommend alternating between two skeins every two rows for better blending.

What is a "Single Stem"?

These are skeins that are one-of-a-kind colorways that won't be repeated or a colorway that didn't turn out as I expected. There is no difference in the quality of the yarn.

What if I need to return or exchange my yarn?

I want you to be completely satisfied and totally smitten with your purchase. If you are not, I will accept returns and offer a refund or exchange under the following conditions:

  • Please contact me via email within 14 days of the date stamp on your package.
  • Skeins must be returned to me in the same condition in which they were sent to you.

How do shop updates work?

Updates will be posted in the banner at the top of the pages. I will also post on Instagram when the shop is updated. There are no reserve listings, purchases are made on a first come-first serve basis.

Follow us on Instagram (@daisyhillyarns) and sign up for our e-newsletter to keep up with shop announcements, giveaways, and promotions.

Do you accept custom orders?

I sure do! If you would like to order a specific colorway/base/quantity, please use the Custom Order section. Custom orders may be made at any time. Average lead time will be 10-14 days (possibly longer if a large quantity is ordered).

How do Pre-Orders work?

Pre-Orders for specific colorways or kits will be announced and left open for one week. Lead times for delivery of skeins/kits will depend on availability of specific yarn bases from our supplier and volume of orders placed during the pre-order window. Generally it will be 2-3 weeks, but I can let you know more definitively once the pre-order window closes.

Will you wind my yarn for me?

You betcha! I am happy to cake your yarn for you, free of charge. Please check the box on the checkout page.

Where does the name "Daisy Hill" come from?

"Daisy Hill" is the unofficial name of the hill on which most of the dorms for the students of the University of Kansas sit ("Far above the golden valley..."). My husband and I both attended KU, as did generations of our families. We celebrate all things KU, especially basketball. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
